It took me a second to figure out what I was looking at with the sideways one. This is looking great. What if you shrank him down a little and had the team name or logo subtly peeking through the background?
I like where you are going with this one; just be careful about things bumping up against the edge when you do the final one. Right now he feels like he’s being compressed by the edges.

I think the hornet is looking more angry but you can still push it a little further. Think about the positioning of the eyebrows.
Lookin’ angrier! Remember when I told you the eyes should arch and push it further. :) Something like this…
