So long, and thanks for all the fish.

Well, folks, it has been fun. I’m not sure if anyone is still around to read this, but I just wanted to say it. ┬áThese last three semesters have been real eye openers as I got to know everyone and see styles and concepts I wouldn’t have come up with myself.

Thanks for the comments, the criticisms, the laughs, and the time, Everyone.

You’ve all been great to know and pushed me to work harder with each project to keep up.

Rainey, it was a blast. Thanks for having us do projects outside of our comfort zones; that pushed us alot farther than anything else would have.

Take care, and see ya soon.

“Im so glad we had this time together…” (Carol Burnett closing song)

You’uns…LOL Thats what the girl at the Hardees in Cookeville TN says. “How’a you’uns doin’?” I would like to say to you Rainey that it has been a pleasure having you as a teacher. There were projects that I didn’t look forward to but they always ended up being fun in the end. I fucking hate blogging but want to check this one everyday and will miss it honestly. I will miss the comradery that our group has built up over the last three semesters but I know excluding Mac we will all be back together way too soon for my tastes. Nothing personal guys, I just love the summer! LOL Rainey, you as well as Joel brought something to the table that Dan couldn’t have. It was great that chose both of you guys. You showed us not only the technical side of things but also showed us your great skill in the Adobe software. I just want to say I hope everyone has a safe summer and see you around!

The Last Hurrah

I left the bleed off because it’s just more of the same, but it’s on the file I made.

I would say out of all the classes I have ever taken the Illustration classes were the most fun and beneficial. I’m glad I took them with such a great group; every week I felt compelled to make something to impress the class, which is not something I usually care about. I made sure every piece had all of my effort put into it and I feel like you guys did too, which is why everyone improved so much. I’m going to miss having Friday class with everyone. We had a really strong group which is why I think Dan went all out on selecting the guest teachers.

Matt Covington: I underestimated you in the first illustration class, but by Illustration II I considered you my main rival. You are a robot dude.

Jordan: Out of all the advice and comments I got I always took yours the most serious because I felt like we thought in a similar way.

Matt Picket: We’ve lived together for four years, but in Illo class I got to see a more serious project driven side of you.

Adam: Always fun to talk to, I was impressed with how hard you worked all the time.

Tiffany: You were fun to work with and your commentary on life always cracks me up. You were never discouraged by the technical illustrators in the class and you improved a lot.

Ryan: Wish I was as good at type arrangement and poster design.

Janey: Your stuff was always cute and it’s still funny to hear you call someone an asshole.

Aaron: Good job Aaron, you are a hero.

Rainey: Good job on your first time teaching and thanks for having patience with us rookies.

All the people who didn’t make it this far: Go home and be a family man. :)

Pieces of eight

Guys, fellers, you’uns, girls…

It was fun teaching you guys this last half of the semester. I knew before I even started that I just may learn more that you all and maybe I did. But I hope that you all got something positive out of it. I wish that the class could’ve had more one on one DURING the art process rather than just before and after. Oh well. It is what it is.

(seniors 1st) Mac, good luck with your career and future. You’re a tallented artist and I know you’ll do well. Keep in touch.

Aaron, what can I say? Everyone admired your pieces each week and for a good reason. Keep up the good work AND get some sleep.

Adam, student at LARGE, your art has a nice crisp look. Keep refining that as you work on your skills. It was a pleasure.

Janey, this last piece really showed your attention to fine detail. My jobs may have not all fit with your interests but you found a way to make yours work with them. I’m impressed.

Jordan, I enjoyed the nice mix you attempted in the 7 jobs. There’s nice work in your group of jobs. I know you’ll take off with your talent and make something of it.

MaP, your stories will take you far… Far.. Away. Really, you are gifted too. I liked the branching out with the rocket piece. Give yourself more room beyond the “itchy-scratchy” style. You’re more than that.

Ryon, thanks for picking up to your capabilities on the last two projects. Sorry about the sports poster but criticism shouldn’t be taken personally. You’re really good. Just remember that.

Tiffany. Jpeg, thank you too for putting up with the string of jobs that were out of your zone and plugging through anyway. Your card work is lightyears apart from mine but only in style.

Who knows, maybe I’ll see some of you next year when I get another teaching gig. Maybe not. No matter what happens, you’ll always be my first class. Stories will be told about you. Just remember that.
